Blond Belgian IPA brewed by Brasserie de la Senne (Brussels). India Pale Ale is a beer style believed to be invented by the English Empire to provide good beer to its colonies when shipping by ship was long and under the sun (beer did not age well at that time). Adding hops helped conserve the beer during those special travels but the style became quickly popular in the “metropole”. Another way of preserving beer during transportation was to use more alcohol, like with Russian Imperial Stouts, brewed in England and shipped to Russia back in the days.
