Bon-Bon Bock is an original and single batch chocolate and hazelnut brown beer brewed by Uiltje in Haarlem (the Netherlands). Not as strong and heavy as our normal bocks like Apfelstrudel, but this time around we brewed a little more smooth beer. It is a Hazelnut Praline Creme delicious beverage with lots of chocolate and hazelnut! Perfect for the winter time, it will go solo as a dessert or make a perfect match with red fruits, pies and strong desserts. Do not hesitate to use it with game and other strong meat cooked slowly in any brown sauce.
Uiltje means in Dutch “little owl” and was picked on purpose. As the brewers say: “Our mission is pretty much monomaniacal: to brew f*cking good beer. We call it craft-y beer because the owl’s got a sharp, uncompromised tongue and a penchant for mischief.” Uiltje represents the vibrant and fresh craft beer scene in the North, with new beers coming out every month and various styles to illustrate their skills.
Bock is a strong lager of German origin. Several substyles exist, including maibock (helles bock, heller bock), a paler, more hopped version generally made for consumption at spring festivals; doppelbock (double bock), a stronger and maltier version; and eisbock, a much stronger version made by partially freezing the beer and removing the ice that forms.
